So, you want to make a living out of gardening? Come along to find out the answers to every question that has ever troubled you.
Your tutor is Rachel Cassidy - a professional gardener, plantsmith, field botanist, consultant forensic horticulturalist, gardening journalist, and author. Rachel has published over two dozen botany and gardening books, including the basis of this workshop - How To Be A Successful Self-Employed Gardener.
With a style that has been variously described as “chatty and informal” and “appropriately bossy”, Rachel will take you through what you might run into, when starting out as a Professional Gardener.
The programme will include the good and bad points of being self-employed; the preparation, the paperwork and the pitfalls; getting started – advertising, enquiries, dealing with rejection; problems and how to deal with them; the practicalities – personal safety, tools, transport; and evolution of the job. It will be a packed day.
The cost of this workshop is £45 per WFGA member and £55 per non-member. Refreshments will be included but please bring a packed lunch. Don’t forget your note book and pen – and start thinking now of all the questions you want answered.
