Birmingham Botanic Garden is a 15 acre public garden of mixed planting inc. woodland, alpine, rock garden, herbaceous borders, rose garden etc., specialising in rare trees and shrubs from around the world and having tropical and temperate glasshouses and large aviary.
The Alpine Yard has been recently renovated (Sept 19). During this skills day you will be Preparing alpine soil mix; considering the Theory of
planting (what is an alpine plant? geographical scheme, right plant, right place, micro-pockets and microclimates in the rock garden); Labelling, watering and maintenance. There will also be a tour of the garden.
The cost of this PSD is £25. Please bring your own packed lunch and drinks and you will be welcome to join the BBG horticultural team during breaks (so having an extra insight in the Gardens’ life). You will need to bring steel toe cap safety boots which are essential (you will not be able to work the garden without them), gloves, secateurs, weather appropriate clothing.
