This garden is set in 10 acres, 4 miles away from central Cambridge. Double parallel 360ft herbaceous borders, inspired by Gertrude Jekyll, lead from the main lawn, with views to open countryside beyond. Avenue of rosa rugosa roses, wildflower meadow, rose garden, orchard, wisteria covered stone pergola, espaliered fruit wall, vegetable pottager, water garden and woodland. This is a private garden and is not open to the public.
After a lesson on secateur sharpening and maintenance there will be a practical hands on pruning session of hybrid tea/floribunda and shrub roses with feeding and mulching afterwards. Instruction on how to pruning climbing roses will follow. Tour of the garden to finish.
The cost of this Skills day is £25. Refreshments are included and please bring a packed lunch. You will also need clean and sharp secateurs.
