Fairlight Hall sit over looking the English Channel with views of the white cliffs of Dover to the east and over to the French coast to the south, in verdant gardens full of beautiful and interesting plants, with a number of trees and shrubs which are original planting to the house. The gardens are made up of many wonderfully diverse areas rich in colour and texture, and has an adventurous use of plants. Matthew Brewer has been Head Gardener at Fairlight Hall for over a year now. Matthew came to Fairlight following a successful time as Head Gardener at Marwood Hill Gardens in Devon. His horticultural career is impressive – working in range of gardens all over the country. We will be working with Matthew and his superb team which includes former and current WRAGS trainees.

This practical skills day will focus on building plant supports in different areas of the garden. We will learn to create the hazel supports needed for the peonies in the 100m long peony bed. We will make sweet pea supports in the walled garden and, if time allows, make some supporting structure in the herbaceous borders.

Tea and coffee will be provided on arrival. Please bring weather appropriate clothing, gloves and footwear. Please bring clean and sharp secateurs. Loppers if you have them.

The cost of this PSD is £30.
