Description
About the Venue:
The Garden House is a working and inspirational garden filled to the brim with an ever-changing scene of trees, shrubs, herbaceous perennials, annuals, bulbs and vegetables with the recent addition of a gravel garden. The Garden House itself is a beautiful wooden workshop nestled amongst the trees in the garden, warmed in winter by a cosy woodburning stove.
About the Tutors:
Bridge Saunders and Deborah Kalinke share a passion for horticulture and enjoy passing on their knowledge. Bridge taught horticulture at Plumpton College for many years, and Deborah had her own Garden Design business plus was a teacher. Together, they have developed The Garden House as a way to make connections with both beginners and more experienced gardeners, inspiring people to develop their own gardens however large or small, and showing them ‘what to do, and when’. Their focus is on learning by doing; gardening sustainably and organically.
About the Workshop:
The main aim of this Workshop is for attendees to understand the principles of propagation, both vegetative and by seed.
Including:
• Seed sowing and how to care for your seedlings, pricking out and growing on.
• The principles of softwood, semi-ripe and hardwood cuttings, nodal, internodal, basal and leaf bud cuttings to increase stock in your garden. There will be a wide range of shrubs and herbaceous perennials to take your cuttings from and we will discuss how to improve your chances of success.
