In early spring 2015 Rona was given the chance to buy Quercus Garden Plants. It continues to grow, selling plants on the stock list and continually adding in their own favourites and new ideas as they develop the nursery. These plants are well adapted and hardy for Scotland’s gardens.
Within the grounds, the nursery has a huge opportunity to develop gardens on three terraces that wrap around the cafe of Whitmuir. It gives them a fantastic shop window and a chance to create and develop interesting and innovative gardens that display the plants we sell; old favourites, unusual and tough herbaceous perennials, native plants, plants that encourage wild life and insects and that have many uses in the home and kitchen.
There is a wild life garden, native plant borders, wildflower meadow, a stream garden, a herb garden, scented garden and mixed and themed borders to exhibit what can grow in these conditions and that visitors and customers can easily re-create in their own gardens.
This Skills Day has been arranged to create a No Dig Border. You will discuss the principals and benefits of No Dig. The day will include laying the cardboard, compost and planting a whole new garden!
The cost of this Skills Day is £30 per member. Please bring a packed lunch, drink and hand sanitiser, wet weather gear – just in case.
