Description
About the Venue:
St.Fagans Castle is a Grade 1 listed building donated to the people of Wales by the Earl of Plymouth. With gardens dating from Tudor, Victorian and Edwardian times, it is now part of the National History Museum of Wales and has been open to the public since 1948. The gardens that surround the Castle include an Italian Garden and the Parterre Garden. The Prairie planting was introduced to be sustainable and drought tolerant.
About the Tutor:
Ceri Goring studied horticucture at Wye College. She has worked at Tredegar House and The Hill Education Centre, Abergavenny, and is now the Garden Conservator at St. Fagans, were she has worked for over 10 years.
About the Practical Skills Day:
Ceri will look at the management of the parterre laid out in front of St Fagans Castle – the planting scheme is an adaptation of prairie planting. As well as discussing the plants used in the parterre, everyone will help carry out the early spring trim of the area.
