Rotherfield Park has all the ingredients for a classically “picturesque” country house surrounded by a carefully managed landscape; ice house, lime avenue and walled garden. Add fruit, vegetables, trees and topical topiary (will the rabbit eat the carrot?) and you have a stunning garden full of horticultural interest. These features are set in a 12 acre plot in an early C19 park, the gardens include a willow chapel and Kim Wilkie’s take on an amphitheatre.
In this skills day you will have the opportunity to work with Head Gardener Nick Sutton learning the principals of Topiary and Cloud Pruning of Yew and Box. You will then have the chance to practical these skills.
The cost of this Skills day is £25. Refreshments are included but please bring a packed lunch. You will also need secateurs, gloves and weather appropriate clothing.
