Belmont House was designed and built in the 18th centrury and is surrounded by 20 acres of gardens amid 3000 acres of parkland. The gardens include a walled garden, herbaceous borders, a kitchen garden designed by Arabella Lennox Boyd, a nuttery and cherry and apple orchards. Graeme Watts has been the Head Gardener at Belont for 19 years and oversaw the restoration of the kitchen garden in 2001.
Arrive for a 10 am and meet Graeme over in the Stable cafe. You will then take some time to look at the different methods required for step overs, espaliers and shaped fruit trees. Pruning sessions in the morning and afternoon will be followed by some free time to wander the garden.
You are welcome to bring your own packed lunch and hot drink, although items may be available to purchase from the cafe. Please bring sharp secateurs, suitable footwear and weather appropriate clothing. Please bring hand sanitiser and a mask in case they are required.
The cost of this PSD is £30.
