Kent – Tree seed collection and propagation



Learn the principals of propagating plant material with special attention paid to Tree seeds. Tree seeds will include Cercis, Crataegus, Aesculus, and Acer. Participants will be taught how to remove fruit, clean off the pulp to separate the seeds and plant. Methods to propagate the seeds will also be demonstrated.  samples can be taken home.

​Hole Park has been owned by the Barham family for over 100 years and has a beautiful Queen Anne house set in approximately 15 acres of stunning gardens, surrounded by parkland. The estate sits in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Quentin Stark has been the Head Gardener at Hole Park since 2000. Trained at Kingston Lacy in Dorset, he then worked at Wimpole Hall, and then moved to the Crown Estate at Windsor.  There he worked in various gardens on the estate & spent 5 years in the propagation department, where he gained a passion for propagation.  He is a galanthophile and keen propagator of Dahlias and bulbs.

The Cost of this workshop is £55 for members, £65 for non-members. Please bring a packed lunch or lunches will be available at The Coach House cafe, hot drinks will be supplied.
