Barkby Hall is a private estate which has been in the same family since 1604, the gardens are approximately 8 acres. The private garden includes herbaceous borders, heather bed, rose garden, formal scented garden, woodland walk with rhododendrons, camellias and magnolias, traditional glass houses and a kitchen garden.
This Practical skills day will cover the basics of grafting apple trees. Collecting suitable scion wood, different
root stock and styles of graft. Barkby Hall has many ancient apple trees within the walled garden, some
varieties of which are no longer commercially available.
The cost of this PSD is £25. Refreshments will be provided, please bring your own packed lunch.
