About This 1 Day Course:
Do you want to learn more about how to specify trees and shrubs? Or maybe you’re looking to gain a competitive edge by upskilling?

This qualification is aimed at helping people new to the industry and experienced gardeners/landscapers and designers become more confident when ordering plants from commercial nurseries. On the course you will learn how to effectively place orders using all the jargon, be able to spot when something isn’t right when your order is delivered, and how to confidently resolve any problems that arise when dealing with nurseries. This is sure to save you lots of time and money over the years and make you look even more professional in the eyes of clients.

In addition to receiving a formal qualification upon successful completion of this day, you’ll also gain:

  • Confidence when specifying, ordering, handling, or maintaining plants.
  • Knowledge of the sizes and forms of trees and shrubs available from UK nurseries.
  • An insight into nursery stock production at James Coles & Sons (Nurseries) Ltd.

Whether you’re a newcomer to the industry or want to formalise your knowledge, this day will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to confidently specify a wide variety of plants. This CPD accredited National Plant Specification (NPS) 1 day Course is designed to empower professionals with the essential skills needed to operate effectively in today’s dynamic commercial horticulture environment.

It is a hands-on practical course as well as theory. At the end (after lunch) you will have the opportunity to take a behind the scenes tour of James Coles & Sons (Nurseries) Ltd. They have multiple sites in the area (you will need to use your own transport) and you are welcome to visit some or all that are available on the day.
