Description
About the Venue:
Highfields Farm, owned by Roger and Jenny Lloyd, is a beautiful garden, in a wonderful setting with views toward the Black mountains. The garden is full of a wide range of borders with exuberant planting incorporating sun and shade, damp and dry, both new and established. The garden recently won The Nation’s Favourite Garden in Wales and the Borders in The English Garden magazine poll.
About the Tutor:
Roger Lloyd has built up knowledge and experience through many years planting and managing gardens where he has lived. In that time, he has developed some specific interests, one of which is grasses and he has built up knowledge using a wide range of grasses in beds and borders at Highfield. He gardens, researches, and gives talks on plants and their place in the garden, and importantly encourages us all to give things a go. His enthusiasm is infectious.
About the Practical Skills Day:
After introductions there will be a background presentation on grasses, and an introduction to tools and work practices, followed by a demonstration of techniques, and the start of practical work including cutting back grasses, and shredding and mulching. After lunch we will continue tasks from the morning, followed by propagation by lifting and splitting.
