About the Venue:
Linnels Farm has an idyllic rural setting, with stunning views and walks down to Devil’s Water, with 20 acres of meadows, woodland, courtyard gardens; with sheep, geese, ducks and chickens (fox permitting!). Since 2012, Karen and husband Simon have progressively renovated the buildings and now have a dedicated workshop and dining space. Karen she started to run gardening courses 15 years ago, after studying horticulture and then lecturing at Kirkley Hall College. She has a natural passion for combining gardening and incredible cooking to provide a healthy balance.
About the Tutor:
Karen originally studied aeronautical engineering. Instead, 15 years ago, she started to run gardening courses after studying horticulture and then lecturing at Kirkley Hall College.
About the Workshop:
The day will start with a Welcome and introductions.
The first part of the course will be an informative morning mastering ‘the theory behind the cuts’: when to prune, how to keep shrubs restricted, renovating old plants, and pruning to maximise fruit or flowers. Attendees will then be able to hone their skills with some practical hands-on work with a specific focus on rose and apple tree pruning.

Tea, coffee and homemade cake will be provided. Please bring a packed lunch.

10.00am – 3.00pm
Please Bring:
Trainees should wear clothes suitable for the weather conditions on the day and bring gloves, boots and a packed lunch.
Please bring sharp, clean secateurs.
NB: Bring a pair of shoes for changing into for the workshop.
