Goddards Green is a privately owned family home in the village of Cranbrook. It is a largely Fifteenth/sixteenth century, timber framed house, surrounded by a mature garden with herbaceous borders, trees, shrubs, an orchard, vegetable garden, a large natural pond, a water garden and rills and lawns.
Your tutor, Jacqui, has been a maintenance gardener for 28 years and works for a number of clients around Kent. For the last 12 years she has worked alongside the owner at Goddards Green, to bring all year round interest into this well established garden, as well as experimenting with more tender subjects and adding less well known plants.
The day sets out to cut back and split some of the mature clumps of Miscanthus growing in a 10 metre bed alongside a drive, plus other clumps in different planting schemes around the garden. The introduction will include why and how the task is performed, correct procedures/purpose/proper health protection.
It will be a physical day, digging, lifting and pruning as many clumps as possible. The grasses are sharp and clumps large and heavy.
The cost of the day is £25 which includes refreshments. Please bring a packed lunch. Further information on tools to bring is provided on booking.
