Description

Since 2019, Sarsden Glebe has proudly hosted specialist training days for WRAGs, welcoming gardeners to learn, connect, and experience the beauty of this remarkable garden. We invite you to join us for an inspiring and hands-on day designed to develop practical skills and deepen your horticultural knowledge.

Begin the day with tea, coffee, and a warm welcome from Amanda Ponsonby, Garden Owner. Enjoy a stroll through the wild garden carpeted with snowdrops, explore the collection of shrubs and trees, and see how the kitchen garden is being prepared for the coming spring. Sarsden Glebe opens annually for the NGS and other events, and this is a wonderful opportunity to experience it in a smaller group setting.

During the course of the day, there will be two expert-led sessions with the Niwaki team, who will demonstrate how to clean and sharpen your own secateurs and shears. Sessions will take place at 11:00am and 2:00pm. Please remember to bring your secateurs/shears for practice; sharpening kits and oil will also be available to purchase.

With your tools in top condition, you will take part in practical orchard training. Learn the techniques of winter pruning for apple and pear trees and gain valuable hands-on experience to support a healthy, productive orchard.

During the lunch break, you will have the chance to explore our well-established wormery system and see the nutrient-rich “black gold” produced over the past year, ready to be used this summer on sweet peas and vegetables.

We look forward to welcoming you to Sarsden Glebe for a day of learning, inspiration, and practical gardening experience.
