About the Venue:
Craig Y Bwla is a 40 acre woodland garden sanctuary created in 1976. Situated on the north side of the Sugar Loaf in a secluded valley, and is bisected by the Grwyne Fawr river. The current owners have spent the last 15 years enhancing and extending this “curated wilderness” with acid loving shrubs and trees, creating an ideal space for reflection and contemplation.
About the Tutor:
Lynda Townley has worked at Craig Y Bwla for 10 years and has over 30 years experience as a professional gardener, with a keen interest in Ecology and the Environment.
About the Practical Skills Day:
The Practical Skills Day will commence with a discussion on different Hydrangeas grown at Craig Y Bwla (aspera, arborescens, involucrata, macrophylla, paniculata, petiolaris, serrata and quercifolia) including growing conditions, pruning, and propagation. This will be followed by a garden walk which will include identifying the different Hydrangea and the area where you will be working in the afternoon.
Following a break for lunch there will be a pruning demonstration, followed by a hands-on practical session.

Tea, coffee and cake will be provided – please bring a packed lunch.
Please Bring:
Gardening gloves and secateurs. Wear appropriate outdoor clothing, including waterproofs (if needed), and suitable footwear – much of Craig Y Bwla is on a slope.
