Derry Watkins is a passionate and leading plantswoman, who has written books, and is a sought after teacher and lecturer. Her nursery sited next to her garden, has unusual plants from all around the world, both hardy and tender, many collected on her travels.
The workshop will start with the biology of propagating from cuttings, and how cuttings root and grow. You will learn about different types of stem cuttings, how to take them and when, and you will practice taking them under Derry’s watchful and supportive eye! You will learn about preparing them and inserting them and about different composts that work for cuttings, and about times of the year to take them and aftercare along with overwintering. There will be time to enjoy Derry’s garden and visit the nursery, followed by another session and more practice in taking cuttings.
The cost of this workshop is £70 per member, £80 per non-member which includes refreshments. Please bring a packed lunch, wet weather gear – just in case.
