Little thorpe Manor is a large, mixed garden of 11 acres surrounding a Georgian Manor House.
Features include a 16th century walled garden, designed to reflect the cycle of the seasons, a sunken garden with herbs and old roses, a winter arboretum, hedges that provide year-round structure and a cascade in the recently developed new lake.
Of particular interest is the new Physic Garden, which is currently being developed. This has resulted in the garden being closed for a couple of years. The tour will enable us to be one of a small handful of groups seeing this project in its final stages while the garden is still closed to the general public. Toilets are available.
After the tour you are welcome to picnic in the garden.
If you fancy having a full day in the area, or even a weekend, nearby gardens at Newby Hall and RHS Harlow Carr will be open for visits, as will NT Fountains Abbey. The historic small city of Ripon is also close by.
The cost is £10 per person which includes a hot drink. Please bring weather appropriate clothing.
