Hampshire – Perennials with Fran Clifton

£60.00£80.00

Description

Open all year, Sir Harold Hillier Gardens, Romsey, features 180 acres of inspirational beauty and tranquillity whatever the season. The internationally renowned Gardens have a magnificent collection of over 42,000 plants from temperate regions around the world, which grow across a variety of landscapes.

Special Features: The Centenary Border, designed by Julia Fogg MSGD, is believed to be the longest mixed double border in the country – a feast from early summer to autumn.

Fran Clifton has worked at Sir Harold Hilliers Gardens since 1996, has been Head Gardener since 2002 and will lead this walk and talk Workshop around the garden, looking at a range of habitats and plants. She will discuss how to maintain a wide range of perennials and how to make the most of them with limited resources.

Across the 180 acres at the gardens there is a range of growing conditions including a pond area with marginal plants, a vast arboretum, woodlands and meadows, with one of the world’s longest double herbaceous borders, which includes many perennials that are new to cultivation.

Fran will prepare a workshop leaflet for all participants so come and make the most of this opportunity to spend time with Fran and fellow Working for Gardeners members and friends.

This event includes garden entry so you will be free to explore in the afternoon.
