East Sussex – How to Design a Beautiful Border

£45.00£55.00

Description

Laurie McMillan, Head Gardener at Hamsey House, is a professional gardener with over 25 years of experience, during which time she has lectured at Plumpton College, delivering courses in both practical and theoretical horticulture. She has an extensive knowledge of the care of plants and the conditions in which they flourish. The garden owner, Amy Bell, is very much a hands-on gardener and creator of a beautiful and inspiring home and garden.

The workshop will be held both in the gardens of Hamsey House and in The Lodge, a self-contained cabin in the garden, nestled in the vegetable patch. The herbaceous border at Hamsey is a delight – abundant with flowers, birds, bees and butterflies. This workshop will focus on how to create a beautiful planting display for your own garden borders. You will learn about colour, form, texture, selecting the correct plants, and how to apply these important principles in your own garden. The morning will include an inspiring walk and talk through the herbaceous border at Hamsey with Laurie, so that you can visualise these principles at work. You are sure to end the morning with lots of ideas on how to transform your borders to be full of beautiful plants that work harmoniously together and create a fabulous display through the seasons.

The cost for workshop, is £45 per WFGA member, £55 non WFGA member.

Tea/coffee will be provided.  You will need to bring pen and paper, shoes to walk around the garden. Wet weather clothes, if necessary.
